Typical Application for Vegastream Gateways

vegastream.jpg In this example scenario, we will show how the majority of businesses can take advantage of their existing WAN infrastructure to allow inter-branch telephony - free of charge!

Data Network

The majority of businesses already have a WAN infrastructure of some kind, be it an ADSL VPN, or Leased Line.  With this already in place for Remote Branch Connectivity we can utilise this for inter-branch calling, and because it's IP - it's free!

Voice

Most businesses already have a traditional PBX in place, and are generally tied into a supporting contract therefore they are unable to replace the PBX with a true IP-PBX.  However the Vega can be "inserted" in-between the PBX and the PSTN (as shown in the first diagram) allowing normal call flow between the PBX and the PSTN.  However, the Vega is configured to pass inter-branch calls across IP rather than use the normal telephone lines (as shown in the second diagram).

Traditional Inter-Office Telephony

In this example all telephone calls from the PBX are routed across the PSTN which incurrs telephone call charges, including setup costs.  The majority of businesses already run a setup similar to this.

IP Enabled Inter-Office Telephony

IPEnabledTelephony.jpg In this example the Vegastream Gateway is inserted inbetween the PSTN and the PBX.  The PBX configuration does not change, therefore all existing users keep the features that they are used to, including feature codes for PBX features.

All calls are passed from the PBX to the Vegastream Gateway which then decides where to route the call.  "Normal" calls (i.e. to customers or suppliers) are routed to the PSTN as normal, however inter-branch calls are routed across the IP Network to the remote Vegastream Gateway.  This way inter-branch calling is totally free.

The Vegastream Gateways can also be configured to "fail-over" to the standard telephone network should the IP Network or WAN fail ensuring business continuity.
