How do I factory reset a Bintec Router?

PDF

Option 1 - Complete Factory Reset

This option will remove all configuration, passwords, and licenses from the device and requires physical access to the router itself.

  1. Turn the router off (unplug its power cable)
  2. Using a small, blunted object, locate the Reset button-hole (generally located on the back panel of the unit) and press it in whilst following step 3
  3. Power the unit on
  4. Leave the reset button pressed in for 30-40 seconds -the status light will flash at least 5 times - release after the 5th flash
  5. Let the unit boot as normal

Option 2 - Configuration Reset

This option will only remove the current configuration and any and all passwords. It also requires physical access to the router with a console cable (supplied with the router).

  1. Connect the console cable to the router and a serial port on your PC (please refer to the relevant manuals for this)
  2. Power the unit back on, and wait until you see a message similar to this : "Press for boot monitor or any other key to boot system" - the system tells you which key to press to enter the boot monitor
  3. From the bootmonitor menu - select the item labelled "Delete Configuration" this is generally option 4
  4. As with Microsoft Windows the router will ask you to confirm your actions
  5. Once confirmed and the configuration has been deleted the bootmonitor menu will re-appear
  6. Now you can reboot the system by selecting option 1

Thats it!  Choose your option and follow the steps outlined and you will be able to re-configure your Bintec router if you forget the administration password.
